WARM WINTER DRIVE

WARM WINTER DRIVE

Published: Jan 12 2024

It's no surprise that we live in a city with extremely harsh winters. With the mornings feeling more brisk and the days getting shorter, winter is already upon us soon. For most of us, this just means breaking out the toques and gloves, plugging our cars in, turning up the thermostat, and dreading having to shovel again.

However, with the rising costs of commodities and increase in expenses, there are several Edmontonians who are nowhere near as fortunate as us, and have no choice but to endure the cold without the most basic need: warmth. Here at Daytona Homes, we believe that each and every person should have this basic need met, and in seeing to that, we've decided to host our Warm Winter Drive.

EVENT DETAILS

From October 12 - November 16, 2022, we are accepting new or gently used warm winter wear items for our drive. These items can be dropped off at ANY of our 9 showhomes located across the city.

We are accepting the following items:

  • Coats

  • Toques

  • Mitts

  • Scarves

  • Snowpants

  • Winter boots

  • Insulated work gear

If you have any of these items, please join us in giving the gift of warmth and safety this year.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

At the end of our drive, all the items will be collected, sorted, and then donated to the Coats for Kids & Families campaign run by United Way. From there, the items are cleaned, reorganized, and then packaged and delivered to social agencies who will distribute them to the people in need.

DAYTONA CARES

One of our strongest beliefs is that we have a responsibility to give back to the communities we build in and better the lives of others. Whether it's through charitable monetary donations, item donations, or giving back through volunteering our time, this event is just another step in fulfilling this vision.

We acknowledge that the land on which the Daytona Homes Edmonton office resides is on Treaty Six Territory–a traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and travelling route for many indigenous people. We honour and respect the history, languages, ceremonies and culture of the First Nations, Metis and Inuit who call this territory home.
